Dear Neighbor,
It has been an honor to serve as your councilmember since 2016, and I look forward to earning your support for Mayor in 2024. As a 45-year resident of Coronado, my number one priority is preserving residential quality of life and ensuring that our residents are fully represented at City Hall. I have a deep understanding of the challenges facing our community.
I also have an extensive professional background in leadership, fiscal management, and collaborative problem-solving to positively address these concerns. I served 10 years on active duty in the Navy and retired as a Captain after 20 years in the Naval Reserves, while pursuing a career at Solar Turbines in San Diego, where I managed budgets in excess of $100M and departments of more than 100 employees. I also trained in 6 Sigma, leading cross-functional teams in process improvement.
I have a BS degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MS degree from MIT. While on active duty I completed the Naval Nuclear Power Program and served in two nuclear-powered cruisers, responsible for operation and maintenance of the propulsion plants, and I had multiple assignments as executive officer and commanding officer of various reserve units.
Included on this website is my complete resume, along with a list of my key accomplishments during my two council terms, as well as a summary of my voting records (2016‑20; and 2020‑24). Please feel free to contact me at mikedonovancoronado@gmail.com or by cell phone at 619.518.4730. I look forward to hearing from you and earning your vote in November.
Sincerely,
